Selecting a good, reliable and cost-effective storage facility can be quite a challenge. That’s because there are a host of companies that claim to provide high quality storage services. So what should you consider when selecting one? There are many things to consider and these start with the reputation of the company. Before you sign on the dotted line, make sure to check up on the companies’ background and make sure you’re not just being handed your hard earned money.
What all to consider when selecting a storage company?
- One thing to consider is the availability. How far away is the storage facility from your house?
- Will it be convenient for you to get to your home or place of business? Is there adequate parking available for you to park your car?
- Depending on your needs, you may need a lot of space to store your stuff. If not, then consider renting a storage unit from a company that offers additional services such as storing appliances and other large items.
Another thing to consider is security measures. What security measures does the storage unit have in place to avoid thieves stealing your valuable items? Do they have alarm systems and how vigilant is their security staff? If you use your garage or shed for storage as well as for storage of items not necessarily for storage, then you also need to find out if they have a lockable door.
The ready to go warehouse facilities and company you select should also be environmentally friendly. What to consider when selecting a storage company includes pricing and overhead. Make sure the price is right and the overhead is reasonable. Check the license of the company and look up the tax identification number of the company. You may want to call the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints against the company or if any customers have filed a dispute with the company.
If you are storing large or expensive items, you will also need a company that has mechanisms for loading and unloading the unit safely. What to consider when selecting a storage unit includes how secure the facility is, and whether or not they provide keys for the doors. It is also important to select a storage facility that has a central access point for your items, so you do not have to go through the trouble of getting each piece separately. If you do not know how to load a large item, ask the storage representative to help you or look for a storage facility that offers loading assistance.
